Our Technology
To
produce Giclée Reproductions we start with a digital scan
of your original artwork. Our Creoscitex scanner produces excellent
digital scans from originals up to 12"x18" and also from
film positives.
In
producing Giclée prints we use a state of the art high-resolution
printer, the HP 5000PS. We offer a selection of canvases and papers
that are designed for our printer and also rated with high archival
standards. We invite you to visit us to see printed samples of our
media.
We
are Macintosh based and use a very sophisticated and highly regarded
color management system. We can accept Mac and PC formatted disks
with files saved as .tiff or .psd (PhotoShop) with an RGB color
gamut.
Collaborative
editing between the artist and the image specialist insures a close
color match between the original and the Giclée print. Although
an exact match is seldom, if ever achieved, ninety-five percent
color accuracy is considered excellent in Giclée
printing. Every original work of art is unique in its color requirements;
editing time will vary to achieve the final results.
Preparing
you Digital File
You
must have a digital file of your original to print a Giclée.
We
can scan your transparencies (film positives) to make high-resolution
digital files. Your transparencies can be 35mm slides 2.25, 4x5
or larger.
You
can have a professional digital photographer (digital capture) taken
to create you digital file. We recommend Thomas Burke and Others
in Santa Cruz, California. They provide us with excellent files
created with the same color management system that we use here at
Real Color. Your files should be RGB color mode at 150 dpi at the
largest desired print size
