Real Color got its start in 1990 (originally on Cooper Street), one year after the devastating Loma Prieta earthquake hit Santa Cruz and left many businesses in ruin. We were proud to be a “come-back” company then, and have been a proud member of the Santa Cruz Business Community ever since.
Large format printing was just getting started in the early 90’s and Real Color was the first printing company in Santa Cruz County to enter that production space. We invested in large capacity laminating and mounting early on and have remained a primary source of that production capability in this area.
We were the first printing company in Santa Cruz County to have a Fiery Cannon (RIP) Raster Image Processor (a device that connects a computer to a copier so it becomes a printer). We were doing comps for clients back then and the new technology helped meet our customers need for high-quality color output and fast delivery.
We remain a full-scope, print-on-demand service bureau offering everything from letter-size laser prints, to large-scale trade show graphics, to fine art Giclee prints.
Real Color has always believed in adapting our business model to serve the community of customers we value so highly. We are always investing in the latest technology and methodologies to improve quality and delivery of large format printing to the market. We continue to be the “tip-of-the-spear” when it comes to acquiring and implementing new, innovative means of production
No job is too small for us. Every job is a “custom” job. All the work we do for our customers carries the same level of importance and attention to detail.
Our fine art reproduction - Giclée (pronounced “zhee-clay”) printing on canvas or artist paper is one of the ways we support the local artist community and helps keep Real Color deeply involved in the growing creative matrix of painters, sculptors, and other local craftspeople.
